Happy Be Kind to Animals Week to all of you! I'm being kind to my animals right now by letting them snore peacefully on my office floor. Of course, I do that pretty much every day.
I was talking to someone from a bichon rescue group for my radio show and she told me she, "wants to come back as one of her dogs." I laughed, but realistically, my house is pretty much doggie nirvana too. If there's reincarnation, coming back as one of the All-Furry Team would be good. They have a seriously low-stress life: get up, eat, snooze in the office two inches from my chair, get affection, toddle upstairs and watch humans eat lunch, have an afternoon nap, go for a run in the forest, get more affection, take a mid-afternoon office snooze, get some affection, go upstairs, have dinner, take a post-dinner siesta, go to bed, and repeat the next day. For a canine, does it get any better than that?
Of course, not every dog (or pet) has a great life, which is why we all work hard on adoptions. If you are tying events into Be Kind to Animals Week, good for you! If not, you have another chance with Take Your Dog to Work Day on June 26. In fact, one of the folks from Pet Sitters International will be doing a teleseminar next week with us to give you a bunch of ideas on how to make the most of the event.
The teleseminar will be May 12 at 1 PM (Pacific time). Here's the description:
Capitalize on the Take Your Dog to Work Day Campaign to Boost Pet Adoptions This Summer
Beth Stultz, the Marketing Specialist at Pet Sitters International (PSI) will talk about how you can tie into the Take Your Dog To Work Day campaign. First celebrated in 1999, this annual event celebrates the great companions dogs make and encourages their adoption from local shelters, rescue groups and humane societies. This event encourages employers to experience the value of pets in their workplace for this one special day to promote pet adoptions. This year, Take your Dog to Work Day is June 26 and the theme is "Secondhand Dogs" Offer First Rate LOVE. Learn how easy it is to work with businesses to promote adoptions and the human-animal bond!
Free Helping Paw members may listen to the call live, and I'll send out call-in information next week. Golden Paw Insider members will also be able to download the audio file recording after the call from the private member area of the NAPRP Web site. We also just uploaded the presentation handout, so you can check it out before the call. If you’re not already a member, please check out the benefits here.
As always, thank you for all you do to help the animals ;-)
