This week on my radio show, I talked to folks at two rescue groups. I did one ahead of time because next week I'm off to Washington, D.C. for the Taking Action for Animals Conference. If you are attending, please do stop by our booth and say "hi."

On the first show, I talked to Angie Platten, who is a volunteer for the Prince William SPCA, in Manassas, Virginia about Kane, a collie/golden retriever mix who looks like he could be part of my canine "pack" here. (I have such a weakness for big furry retrievers!)

On the second show, I talked to Jo Deibel, the founder of Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue in Glenville, PA about a horse named Goldie. Angel Acres rescues former racehorses that are destined for slaughter.

I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to talk to people every week who are doing such great work for the animals. Of course, as I say in the show description, every critter has a story, but what I'm finding is that every rescue has a story too. I'm glad I get to help share them!

Check out the August Issue of Redbook Magazine!

Many people who are involved in pet rescue are women. So if you happen to subscribe to Redbook magazine, check out page 138 in the August issue. The title of the article is called "Trust Your Gut. Change Your Life" and the story of how we moved here is featured. And the photo on the 2-page opening spread is of me ;-)
