Today I'm feeling rather under the weather, so this post will be a bit shorter than usual. I think the toll of many vet trips and many houseguests contributed to me getting a cold. My husband is sick too. I can hear him over there in his office blowing his nose. (Oh how romantic!) In better news, this week we have been busily lining up our next group of expert teleseminars. Although the Web site isn't updated with the details yet, the next teleseminar will be on September 29th at 1 pm Pacific time. I'll be interviewing Jessica Stout, the founder of AnimalAdvocating.com about how you can take advantage of social media (i.e. sites like Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube) to promote your organization and your message. If you've been struggling to figure out how these sites can actually help you (and not turn into a giant time sink), you won't want to miss this one. Jessica has been in the animal care profession for 12 years. She began her career at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley before becoming a veterinary technician, and she was in emergency medicine for five years with several organizations, including the San Francisco SPCA. After several years as Animal Care Manager for Solano County Animal Control, she went on to become General Manager for Wag Hotels, a start-up chain of luxury pet hotels. Jessica is currently employed with Born Free USA, a non-profit organization that advocates for wild and exotic animals in captivity and entertainment, as well as other key global issues involving wild animals. I love talking to people that have been "out there" in the trenches working for the animals, so I'm looking forward to talking to Jessica. Not surprisingly, you can find her on Facebook. If you're Facebook friends with me already, you'll find her among my cadre of friends. She's in my Twitter list too. (I'm @susandaffron and she's @AnimalRescueGal.) We're still finalizing details, but it's looking like we'll have future expert teleseminars on integrating traditional fundraising techniques with online tools, running your rescue like a business, how to fight burnout (both in yourself and volunteers), pet first aid, pubic relations techniques to help make you stand out from the crowd, and a lot more. So stay tuned! As always, thank you for all you do to help the animals ;-) ~ Susan Daffron Founder & President, NAPRP Technorati Tags: animal, animals, pet, pets, dog, dogs, cat, cats, adoption, pet adoption, animal adoption, humane, society, societies, humane society, humane societies, pet rescue, pet rescues, rescue, rescues, agency, agencies, shelter, shelters, animal shelter, animal shelters, naprp, national association of pet rescue professionals, teleseminar, susan, daffron, susan daffron, susan c daffron, jessica stout, facebook, social media, fundraising
